what happens when Perry throws a grenade? what theme does the incident develop?

Perry forgets to take the pin out of the grenade when he throws it into a hut, and the VC throws it back out...... luckily, he too forgot to remove the pin.

He throws a grenade into a hut but forgets to take the pin out. The VC throws it back out with the pin still in. I suppose that, in the chaos of war, these men make similar errors, they are more alike than different.
