Why is Montag hesitant to listen to Faber at page 88?

I'm having a hard time with this.

This depends on whether your pg 88 matches with mine. Page numbers differ from copy to copy. In mine, Faber tells Montag to go home and just wait for the end of the world. Montag wants Faber's help right away. Montag begins ripping out pages from the Bible to make Faber help him.
