Salamander- A mythic reptile/lizard that was thought to live in fire. It is a symbol of a living entity that endures flames without burning much like the firemen.

Fire/ hearth- Fire symbolizes a purifier. It cleans the world of books that would add meaning to people's lives; the state does not want this.
