There are many similarities:

-The people in the “Fahrenheit 451” society sport “seashells” and “thimble radios,” which resemble earbuds and Bluetooth headsets.

-The futuristic society are obsessed with the parlor walls which are essentially large, flat-screen televisions that we have today.

-The mechanical hounds in the story could easily represent the drones that we have today that hunt down and kill people.

I think much of today's society has a similar disposable culture as in the book. Immediate superficial gratification is replacing thought and wisdom. Activities like reading are being replaced with vacuous tv, video games, and other forms of immediate escape.
