Fahrenheit 451

Faber mentioned that in the future the media has changed how people perceive “Christ” (an allusion to Jesus) to be. How does eliminating books help facilitate this change in the way one views religion? Explain why this could be dangerous?

Books tell people about history. Eliminating books allows the state to make up their own versions of history and ideas in order to validate the state and keep control over the people. The Bible requires allegiance to God: a power that the state wants. The state wants to change the information to legitimise them.
