Beatty alludes to the fact that Clarisse's death and her family's moving away was directly related to the fact she'd begun to think too much and question too many things. Beatty also comments on the fact that firemen sometimes begin to wonder about the books they burn. When Montag asks what happens to these men, Beatty tells him they have twenty-four hours to burn..... if they don't, their co-workers will come to their home and do it for him. Beatty is giving Montag a warning.
