Good deeds is lying in the ground and cannot stand. What is the symbolism of this?

Good deeds cannot stand behind a person when that person is facing death. Good deeds symbolize one way in which people think they will save themselves; however, it is not a good support, but it cannot stand in place of the truth of a man's heart who wants to be saved.
