The other camp is much dirtier than the place where Esperanza and Miguel live, and the people are hungry. Although her camp is certainly not a nice place to be, Esperanza likes it better than the misery of the striker's camp. She feels guilty for not standing up for rights like the strikers do. She feels guilty for living better at the esxpense of the strikers.
