Mysterious stone
When Eragon sees the dragon’s egg, he thinks it is a stone. In the moonlight, the strange stone seems “like a shade”. He gently touches the stone with his the arrow. Nature cannot polish a stone “so beautifully” –Eragon understands it immediately. The surface of “the dark blue semi-precious” stone is “flawlessly smooth” and the whole egg is “tangled with whitish veins, like with cobwebs”. To the touch, the stone is “cold and slippery”, like an atlas. The image of the egg gives an impression of the secret discovery that will change Eragon’s life.
Wonders of nature
Eragon kneels – “the stiff, crushed grass” clearly indicates that the deer were in the meadow. The night sky is “cloudless”. There is “a gentle breeze. A silvery cloud” swims slowly above the mountains and its edges “glitter in the light of the full moon”. Streams gleam mysteriously. “The gloomy fog” spreads through the valley that Eragon barely distinguishes his own footprints. The image of Eragon’s motherland gives an impression about the peaceful and charming life.
Amazing flight
The first flight of Eragon with the dragon is “wonderful”. Eragon shrieks, when they start to fly. “The upstream of the air” picks them up and twirls with such force that it holds the breath. “The farm and the river flash below.” It is “so cold in the sky” that even Eragon’s eyelashes “become frozen”. From the height, the mountain peaks look exactly “like the sharp teeth of a predatory beast”. The image of their flight gives an impression of the beautiful landscapes and joy.
