Who is continuing to travel north despite the dangers?

That would be Enrique (I'm not sure which chapter you are referring to).  Enrique reaches the Cuil bridge, one of the most dangerous places on the journey north because ruthless bandits lay in wait for migrants there. Enrique makes it across unharmed. He has survived La Arrocera.
