Rackham means that they can train all they want going though endless games and simulations but, in the end, the real lessons of war are taught by your real opponent. It is the Buggers who will eventually teach the boys what they really need to know to survive and, perhaps, be victorious. It will be a trial by fire but really the only trial that will count.
