In the simulator room, Ender starts training as a commander of squadron leaders, much like with his old toon leaders. He puts on the headphones and hears "Salaam," indicating Alai's presence. Bean, Petra, Dink, Fly Molo, Crazy Tom, Hot Soup, Carn Carby, Shen, and "all the best students that Ender had fought with or fought against, everyone that Ender had trusted in Battle School" are all there to work with him.
