what relationship does utterson have with jekyll

They are not close friends. They travel within the same upper class social circles; Utterson is a respected lawyer and Jekyll a respected wealthy doctor. Utterson is in charge of Jekyll's will but really that is about the extent of it. Both men meet only a couple of times through the story.
