one issue raised by dr jekyll and mr hyde is that of drug abuse.how does a person who is abusing drugs change in personality, appearance , and habits?

I suppose Jekyll is abusing drugs to achieve an altered state of consciousness. As Hyde, Jekyll can do and experience primal pleasures that he feels he can't on his own. Many people drink at parties to relax and do things they might not ordinarily do (like talk to people, tell jokes, be sexually forward...) People feel less inhibited when taking something. Also Jekyll used Hyde as a means of escape from his dreary world. This can be said for some people who use drugs as well.
