Jekyll appears to be "looking deadly sick." How would you account for this change in his appearance?

Jekyll's aappearance is a ddirect result of Hyde's taking over his body. Hyde thrives on debauchery and immorality..... something well known to take a negative effect on one's physical condition. In essence, he can no longer control Hyde..... Hyde controls him.
