Why does Four hits Tris with the knife?

Why does Four hits Tris with the knife?

Im wondering why he did that. Is it because he loves her or is it because he knew that she was divergent and he wanted to remind her not to draw attention to herself. Thank you so much!!

Four would prefer she not draw attention to herself and to show her she's not infallible. He is also teaching her to trust him, as he tells her straight out...... if he wanted to hurt her he already would have done so.
