Wikus van de Merwe
Played by Sharlto Copley, Wilkus van de Merwe is a mild-mannered and incompotent goverment official from the MNU Department of Alien Affairs. After becoming infected with a strange alien fluid which turns him into an alien, called a "prawn" because of its appearence and demeanor. Realizing Earth's mistakes, Merwe begins to fight the MNU with the help of the neglected prawns.
Christopher Johnson
Played by Jason Cope, Christopher Johnson is a prawn and a resident of District 9. Tired of the persecution of his fellow species members, Johnson assists Merwe in fighting the MNU.
Colonel Koobus Venter
Played by David James, Colonel Koonbus Venter is put in charge of capture the rouge Merwe by the private military company he works for. Venter is a ruthless, cruel, and xenophobic animal who finds tremendous pleasure in killing the prawns and in responding swifly and savagely to those who oppose him.
Tania Smit-van de Merwe
Played by Vanessa Haywood, Tania Smit-van de Merwe is Wilkus Merwe's doting wife.
Obesandjo
Played by Eugene Khumbanyiwa, Obesandjo is a paralyzed and psychopathic Nigerian gang leader. He believes in cannabilism. More specifically, he believes that if he eats body parts of the prawns, he will be able to operate their weapons.
