Denial (2016 Film) Cast List

Rachel Weisz

Otherwise known as Bond. Mrs Bond, due to her marriage to Daniel Craig, Weisz has appeared in both adventure movies and independent films in equal measure. She made her acting debut in 1990 at the age of twenty, appearing in the hit television series Inspector Morse. However, she did not make it big in Hollywood until her performance as Evelyn Carnahan in both The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. In 2005 she received an Academy Award in the Best Supporting Actress category for her performance in The Constant Gardener, also garnering a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors' Guild Award. A second Oscar nomination followed in 2018 for her role as Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough and although she did not win the statue she did receive both a BAFTA Award and a British Independent Film Award for her performance.

Tom Wilkinson

Two-time Academy Award nominee Wilkinson is something of a national treasure in his native England, although it is in Hollywood that he has achieved the most acclaim. He made his television debut on the made-for-television movie adaptation of Jeffrey Archer's best-selling novel First Among Equals His breakthrough role internationally was in the British comedy film The Full Monty with Robert Carlyle; he famously hosted Charles, Prince of Wales, on the set of the sequel, teaching him the moves and his signature hip-thrust to the movie soundtrack. After winning a BAFTA award for his role, he began to take film roles more frequently, and was nominated for his first Academy Award for his performance in Todd Field's In the Bedroom. His second nomination came in 2007 for his role as a bipolar attorney in Michael Clayton.

Wilkinson is married to actress Diana Hardcastle, the two playing opposite each other in the television mini-series The Kennedys, for which he was nominated for a Prime Time Emmy.

Timothy Spall

Spall has made a career out of playing largely comedic roles in his native Britain, generally those who are endearingly clueless, yet likable. Playing Irving was against type for Spall, who first came to prominence in the beloved television series Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, opposite blues singer Jimmy Nail, and Inspector Morse co-star Kevin Whately. He became an international star after appearing in the Harry Potter movie franchise as Peter Pettigrew. His most frequent collaboration has been with director Mike Leigh, whose gritty films about working class characters in the north of England helped garner Spall a slew of BAFTA awards.

Andrew Scott

Scott is best known for his portrayal of Jim Moriarty, Sherlock Holmes' arch nemesis, in the BBC adaptation of the Arthur Conan Doyle detective novels. He is also highly regarded as a stage actor, receiving two Laurence Olivier Awards.

Alex Jennings

Jennings is predominantly a stage actor, a member of both the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theater. He has won Laurence Olivier Awards three times and is the only performer in history to have won an award in each of its categories - musical, drama and comedy. In 2015 he played Edward VIII, the Duke of Windsor, in the Netflix series The Crown.

Harriet Walter

Dame Harriet Walter is an English stage actress who is also well-known for her work on the big screen. Typically she is cast in period drama adaptations, such as Sense and Sensibility, and she was a regular on the international hit television series Downton Abbey. Walter was one of three cast members of Denial to have appeared on the drama series Inspector Morse.
