Why is his family short on money

Willy Loman A sixty year old salesman living in Brooklyn. He is unsuccessful at his job. After thirty-five years working as a traveling salesman throughout New England, Willy Loman feels defeated from failed sales and low confidence of his boss. They consequently have little money.
