Why does Willy ask Charley to apologize Bernard for him?

Bernard tells Willy about a big case he is doing in court. Willy eventually becomes frustrated wit Bernard's success and Biff's failings. Willy has a minor breakdown in front of Bernard. Later, Willy asks Charley, Bernard's father, to apologies for the meltdown.
