why does willly keep talking about the car?

Willy's description of the car....... one minute a piece of trash, and the next, the best machine ever built gives the audience a glimpse into his world of conflicts. He is conflicted in a number of ways, and each of the conflictions allows us to see his diminishing sense of reality as we move through the acts of the play.
