This question calls for your opinion, there is no right or wrong answer. In my opinion, Neil's suicide, which I assume you are referring to in terms of the "tragedy", was his own fault.... I do not place blame on anyone else. Many people like to blame Keating, but it was Keating's job to open the minds of his students. Other people want to blame Neil's father for his overbearing expectation, but many people have parents with high expectations.... parents who don't share or understand their dreams. Neil chose to end his own life.... no one made that decision for him. Rather than stand up to his father, he chose to hurt everyone around him. Very sad, but very much the decision of a confused young man, who lacked the proper advice and understanding of those around him.
