What kind of character is Mr. Keating? Is he changed by his experience in the film? Why or why not?

Mr. Keating is an enlightened English teacher. He is a free sprit who inspires the boys to challenge conformity. He is empathetic and intelligent. I'm not sure how much he changes. I think he is a little disheartened about just how far this school will go to maintain the status quo,
