David Copperfield

how does the writer describe the downs he experienced when he was a child?

a friend challenged me to a bet to read the whole book and answer set questions, she has already read the book.

This is a pretty broad question. I think his childhood generally goes downhill when his mother marries the rather vile Mr. Murdstone. Mr. Murdstone is strict and abusive towards David. He also brings his equally disagreeable sister to live with them.
