At the home of the late Arthur Jarvis, James Jarvis finds many letters and invitations asking Arthur to speak. He sees four pictures on the walls: Christ crucified, Abraham Lincoln, the white gabled house of Vergelegen, and a painting of leafless willows by a river. On the bookshelves Jarvis finds hundreds of books about Abraham Lincoln, as well as many books about South Africa and its history.
