Suspense is a literary device that authors use to keep their readers’ interest alive throughout the work.

The environment or surrounding in which an event or story takes place.

Point of view is defined as the type of narration an author employs to let the readers “hear” and “see” what takes place in a story, poem, or essay.

Gothic literature is defined as a style of writing that employs dark, picturesque scenery, melodramatic narrative devices, and an overall atmosphere of mystery, fear, and apprehension.

Mood is the overall feeling an author creates for his readers.
