Zélie is the maji who restored magic to Orïsha, but now must face the consequences because the enemies of maji have gained magic as well, being called the titans.
Amari
Amari is about to be crowned the queen of Orïsha, before her mother rises from the dead and wreaks havoc on the land, forcing her and her friends to flee. Amari finds herself at a crossroads, she wants to help the maji at the war, but also protect the land she is destined to rule.
Tzain
Zélie's brother and Amari's love interest, he often finds himself conflicted with his loyalty to the two of them.
Inan
Inan is Amari's brother and Zélie's love interest from the previous novel, who was thought dead from the previous book. He reappears and gets crowned king of Orïsha. He is conflicted between trying to find a way to make peace with the maji, and following his duties as a king with his land threatened with war,
