Why would Sundara think that eating with Jonathan wasn’t wrong?

Why she thought eating with him was wrong, because he has a girlfriend and she doesn’t want anyone thinking nothing is going on between them.

According to the text, she shouldn't be having lunch with a boy. It was considered culturally unacceptable for her to do so. There was also the problem of the fact that Jonathan was not Cambodian.
