Imagine you are Perrault writing a journal entry as you leave Buck and the sled team, write about your attachment to Buck and how he changed during your time together?
Perrault is French Canadian so you might want through a few French words in here or there. Even using broken English is a possibility,
"I knew the dog Buck was of great value when I first saw him. He was a "bon chien". Buck was fearless even more than Francois! Something about Buck make me think the Dog feels superior to me. Perhaps he was...."
Something like that should help start you off.
