Animal Population

I was recently on my created multiplayer world when I stumbled across a diamond piebald Roosevelt Elk. Never shot at it but came close, I ran up a steep incline and I lost its tracks. I then had to go before I could further investigate. Will that animal still be in my personal world or when I created the multiplayer did it vanish completely after leaving that game?
