People had little money, thus, entertainments had to be born of imagination and experienced with friends. Entertainment, even today, allows us to forget our worries for awhile. It takes our minds off the things we cannot control and allows us time just to enjoy ourselves. During the depression, there was little money, no jobs, and people were often hungry. Adults spent their time worrying about how they were going to care for their families, and it was impossible to keep that kind of worry from the younger generation.
