At the end of the story what does Buddy mean when he says, "Here we go again momma, only this time I can’t wait!"

Bud is alluding to the fact that he's starting over..... that although he hasn't found his father, he has found his grandfather. In addition, he has found his mother through his grandfather. Thus, life begins again, and Bud is anxious to join in.
