Having more than one home means there's more of a chance you could feel at home somewhere, but it makes the word itself confusing: it's harder to feel like you're anchored or live a steady life. Jackie and her siblings can't quite decide where they belong, in New York, in South Carolina; they love both and struggle in both. It's important to them to have people they love in more than one place, but it also means that they're always missing someone.
