Death and old age isn't very sexy. The West has an obsession with youth. Much like BNW, the West finds the elderly disposable and worthless. In BNW Linda just goes on a permanent Soma trip, a state of narcotic bliss until her heart gives out. We prefer to isolate our old people and let them wait to die.
