    Every aspect of World State society serves a deliberate community function. What function might the reservation’s existence serve, and why does it allow visitors?

    The Reservation may serve as a warning to those who, like Bernard, are eager to criticize the World State and try to upset the status quo. Visitors to the Reservation see what, to them, is a horrifying alternative to civilization - old age, disease and unhappiness. To the conditioned mind, civilization suddenly seems much more appealing.
