This question calls for your opinion. Zane's parents' reactions....

His mom started to cry—not from disappointment, but out of joy that he’d finally confided in her—and hugged her son. “She was like, ‘I’ve been trying to get you to tell me!’” Zane said. “‘It’s totally fine!’ But I was kind of angry: she’d put me through some mild emotional abuse to get there. I said, ‘Since I’m telling you things you don’t know about me, here’s another one: I smoke.’” Then he went outside to calm his nerves with a cigarette while she, in her excitement, went to share the news with Zane’s dad, who was asleep. “He gets up for work at five in the morning,” Zane said. “So he was like, ‘Okay, but why are you waking me up?’” The next day, he told Zane that he couldn’t wait for him to bring someone home. “So that,” Zane said, “was really beautiful.”
