This quote suggests more about witchcraft.... is Ultima a witch, who placed the broken cross upon the threshhold.... who broke it. In the end, it really doesn't matter to Antonio. People might spark his curiosity, but he knew that Ultima only did good..... a realization that changes his earlier perception of good and evil.
