Not staying with in laws good or bad

Is it a bad karma it we don't stay with our in laws but take care and help them physically and finanmcially?

In the context of the Bhagavad-Gita it is bad karma not to respect the laws of God and the universe. Putting bad energy into the world brings back bad energy on the individual.
