Who is Wulfgar? Does he occupy and important position in Hrothgar's kingdom?

Is he friendly to Beowulf?

Wulfgar is a pretty minor character. He is one of the Danes who takes Beowulf's message to Hrothgar. He goes to Hrothgar proclaiming the arrival of the Geats to the King. The King seems to trust him enough that he takes Wulfgar's advice that the Geats look respectable and that it would be in his interest to hear them out.
