A stereotype is in essence a prejudice or bias (popular belief) and certain kinds of individuals. These bias' are usually standard assumptions held by groups of people and might also be conceived as discrimination.

Representations on the other hand, supply us with a specific visual; they are verbal portraits. Representations usually enable us to clearly see the things they represent. The are not assumptions.
