How would describe agu’s feeling about become a soldier

Agu doesn't want to be a soldier but he sees it as his only way to survive. He is a boy without food, shelter, or protection. Agu is found by the soldiers and forced to join the rebel force. He has lost his innocence and childhood. Unfortunately he realizes the hard way that war is making a man out of him.
