Fraternal Twins

Twins who are not identical; they developed from separate ova fertilized at the same time.

Siren

In Greek mythology, a female water spirit whose singing lured unwary sailors to their deaths. In the novel, a person (usually female) who has the power to influence others with her voice.

Calm; peaceful attitude.

Dilapidated

Run-down; in disrepair.

Utilitarian

Perfectly functional without any luxury; gets the job done.

Deepmarket

(A term specific to book.) A market located in a deep part of Atlantia.

Gondolas

A flat-bottomed boat used to transport people in canals.

Mahogany

A type of rich, reddish-brown wood.

Insignia

A special mark or badge indicating one's rank.

Acolyte

Someone who assists with religious services.

Cobalt

A dark blue stone; also used to describe the color of a very dark and rich blue.

Insinuate

To suggest or hint something.

Floodgate

A gate that can be opened or closed to let water in or out.

Reprimand

A punishment.

Fulsome

Extremely flattering.

Inference

To guess something based on hints.

Buttress

Brick or stone construction that supports a wall.

Blasphemy

Something that insults a deity.
