Adam is a former servant of Sir Rowland, he is an old man but Orlando takes him along into the forest of Ardenne when he flees. Adam is most sympathetic to Orlando's plight. He not only offers him company in the cold forest of Ardenne, he also funds their journey with his meagre savings. Adam represents the idea of loyalty and unconditional love that is so lacking between Orlando and Oliver.
