Personal Statement

Messiah College is a Christian college of the liberal and applied arts and sciences whose mission is to educate men and women toward maturity of intellect, character, and Christian faith in preparation for lives of service, leadership, and reconciliation in church and society. How have you prepared for and how do you expect to work toward fulfilling this mission as a student at Messiah College?


The source of my family’s vision that is instilled in me is from Ephesians 4:12, “To prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” I believe that this will be facilitated at Messiah where the professors will instruct and encourage me in the service of God’s kingdom. Since childhood I have been preparing for the mission that Messiah embodies. I am filled with true happiness and utter exhilaration when I am serving the Lord and being his hands and feet.

When I was in elementary school, my mother implanted a love of serving as we participated in a dance and drama ministry for underprivileged people in our Tucson community. The move to Germany broadened my horizons as we worked weekly with a population of “at risk” immigrant children to build friendships and lay the foundations for a future church. I have gained a global perspective through attending an international school and experiencing different cultures as I travel through Europe. God has blessed me with incredible experiences, and in return I want to respond by blessing others. To cultivate this, I have participated in two Young Life service trips to Bulgarian orphanages.
