James Reeves especially reflects on the moods of the sea during various seasons of the year. His representations from nature seem to revolve around an animal we're all well acquainted with, that being the dog.

We have the hungry dog, the playful dog, and the calm dog........ all metaphors for the moods and aspects of the sea.
