THE UNTRANSLATABLE WORD "MACHO" BY ROSE DEL CASTILLO GUILBAULT

THE FIRST TWO PARAGRAPHS ARE.....

1.what is macho?that depends on which side of the boder tou come from.although its not unusual for words and expressions to lose their subtley in translation, the negative connotations of macho in this country are troublesome to hispanics.

2.take a newspaper descriptions of alleged mass murderer ramon salcido.that an insensitive, insanely jealous,hard-drinking,violet latin male is reffered to as macho makes hispanics cringe."es muy macho"the women in the family nod approvingly, describing a man they respect.but in the united states, when women say "hes so macho"its with disdain..
