Can you understand Brook’s feelings when he gets out of prison? Why do you think he is so afraid all the time on the outside?

Brook has become accustomed to prison life. Prison life is regimented. He is told what to do and when he can do it. Brook finds comfort in this: it is all he knows. Freedom, once he gets out, becomes a strange experience. He can barely hold down a grocery job. He fears the unknown. Brook longs to commit a crime so he can return to prison.
