Most volcanic eruptions occur at tectonic plate boundaries, but some occur within a tectonic plate, far from plate boundaries.

Part B. Can you please explain how volcanoes from in areas that are not associated with a plate boundary. Please give an example.

"Intra-plate" volcanoes form roughly linear chains within various oceanic plates. This happens when a plate passes over a "hot spot" and initiates the generation of magma. An example would be the Hawaiian Islands.
