46.5 Looking back years later, what does the narrator think about the decision he made on the Rainy River?
This was the only decision he could have made. Tim had to go because not going would have extinguished his identity. There was nothing patriotic in his motivations. America was his home and that's why he went.
He was too scared not to go but that is who he was.
