After the war between the two brothers (Eteocles and Polynices) they both end up dead. Creon, in league with Eteocles, decrees that Eteocles be buried with honour and Polynices be left to rot. Antigone, the sister of both brothers, says that she has a greater calling than Creon's. She will bury her brother regardless of Creon's edict. Thus comes the conflict between human and divine law. The point Antigone makes here is that she must obey a higher power even if it is at her own peril.
